  • Shift Drink "turns" tricks - um - tables

Found in the forums at Shift Drink, an insider's guide to the hospitality industry:

I think it’s funny that, as waiters, we use the term “turn” for moving a table through their meal quickly. I’ve always felt there was something intrinsically whore-like about what we do.

It is not coincidence, I don’t think, that prostitutes use the same term for “turning” a trick. Like hookers and gigolos, we have to act like we are enjoying giving service and, with any luck, our “johns” will finish the act as quickly as possible.

In exchange for our companionship, they both leave money on the table when they leave.

    Was it good for you?
